I was trying product after product and found that I was never happy with the results. This led me to research ingredients where I eventually found that synthetic chemicals made up many of the ingredients within most hair care products on the market, yet they have no benefit on the hair or scalp. This lead me to begin my formal studies in Organic Haircare Formulation. When I came to terms with this, I decided to experiment with natural ingredients and with this knowledge and many formulations later, I landed with a product that was truly effective in transforming the hair. I found my product actually worked better than any product I had tried on the market. The minute I started trialling I started to see real results!
After immense amounts of research into oils (the main ingredients in my first product) I found that oils were a necessity and a luxury in Rome and were used on a daily basis. I found it fascinating that naturally derived oils have such powerful active ingredients and the Romans proved they worked by using them on a daily basis to protect from strong environmental factors, hydrate their skin and hair, and indulge in luxury bathing experiences. This meant that their ritual of using naturally extracted oils had purpose back then and I feel it is necessary to bring that back in today’s market – simplicity of ingredients and harnessing the power of natural elements. Essentially, repeating an action to gain results derived from ancient civilisations who did the same, is how the name came about.
My aim was to target different layers of the hair strand and scalp in order to achieve the best results. Not all oils can penetrate the hair strand which is why I chose a mix of oils that will target each layer. I wanted a rare mixture that had never been done before with as many active ingredients as possible. The Roman Empire was vast in the land they occupied and from this, I narrowed it down to ingredients that were used in the region and what each one was able to achieve in the formula.
I wanted to transport people to the Mediterranean without physically being there and to produce a fragrant scent unlike any other hair care product on the market. The aroma contains many familiar botanicals found in the Mediterranean that results in a very exotic, strong scent that lasts in the hair. I’ve been told it’s actually like a hair perfume. I guess it is!
I have personally seen in my hair and in our trials that you can expect stronger, thicker, healthier hair that will always have a luminous shine! Although, these results won’t happen overnight, always taking into account that rituals = results and if used weekly, the results will be incredible.
To put it simply, re-defining hair care and taking a new holistic approach in order to gain greater results is super exciting. Being able to share my hair secrets along with my formulating knowledge and education in order for people to gain results like myself and others around me is a reward in itself.
There have been two very challenging events thus far, first of all creating the perfect formulation. I am certified in organic hair care formulating however, it took months until I created a formula that I was 100% happy with because of how fussy I am with every single element, this included over 30 different formulas until I got it just right! Secondly, educating people on why they should switch to an all-natural product when people are used to the mainstream products in today’s industry. It’s challenging to pull people away from what they are so used to.
I have a few ideas in the making! It won’t be any typical hair care products; I would really like to be innovative in what I bring out next.
