The main goal of a natural face oil is to provide intense hydration while addressing a number of skin concerns, making them a beneficial addition to a skin care regime especially when paired with a natural moisturiser or balm.

Natural oils typically consist of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants with important skin benefits. They are highly compatible with our own skin. Natural face oils mimic natural sebum helping to balance our own oil production. For this reason, we recommend if you have combination/oily skin trying an organic face oil.  Natural oils work for all skin types when the products are matched to your unique skin type.

 How & When to Use your Natural Face Oil

Natural and organic face oils can be used twice daily, and we love a day oil, but the majority of people lean towards a face oil as a beneficial part of their night-time routine. Not to say they are not incredible for hydrating the skin throughout the day! Let’s break it down by morning and evening.

For morning:  Highly versatile natural oil can be worn layered over your serum, mixed with your daily moisturiser for an extra boost or mixed with your favourite mineral powder for the ultimate CC Cream or liquid foundation. Face oil worn alone during the day offers hydrating and nourishing day long protection. We recommend a high absorbency formulation such as those that contain dry organic seed oils. 

For evening: A natural face oil boosts the benefits of your skincare wehn applied as the final layer over your moisturiser or balm, particularly great for your night-time regime. Face oil can also be used alone, but we recommend partnering with a balm to boost the benefits of the plant butters found in natural balms.

 A natural face oil is an amazing addition to your regime. If a face oil isn’t of much appeal due to the “greasier” texture, try this tip –  Mix a drop of face oil to your moisturiser. It boosts the efficacy of your moisturiser and can be less “greasy” to the touch. 

Pro tip: Apply natural and organic face oils on damp skin for increased absorption! Drench the face with a spritz of your favourite botanical mist, these supercharged hydrosols carry the oil actives deeper into the skin.

 The Best Natural Face Oils

Natural and organic face oils are typically categorized into “weight” and “absorbency”.  For oily skin look to an oil formulated with lightweight, readily absorbed oils like that Sacha Inchi found in  Flora Mirabilis Face Oil. Skin needing a boost in hydration will benefit from an omega rich oil such Marula oil and Jojoba Oil, while sensitive skin will respond to mid-weight calming natural oils like Camellia, Evening Primrose and Apricot Kernel Oil.
