I know, I know, doing a smokey eye can be very intimidating. You don’t want to look like you have a black eye and every time you’ve tried before it just ends up being a mess! Well don’t worry, I’ve got a super easy hack for you that’ll make you a smokey eye pro without the mess in no time, all you need is a tissue and the right eyeshadow palette.
In today’s video I’m using the SAINT COSMETICS “Dusk ’Til Dawn” palette which has a gorgeous selection of shades that are matte, satin and shimmer and run from a pale pink through to black. It even includes a beautiful matte brown called “Beguiling Brown”. Most palettes with these tones don’t include a shade like this but I’m so glad SAINT have because it really offers up not only a shade that is very wearable on its own but also works very well with every other colour in the palette. Every shadow in this palette is wearable alone or can be mixed and matched to create your dream shadow look. You can create a super soft eye or a very intense dark eye. It’s really got it all and it’s especially great for these autumn/winter months.
Not only are the SAINT colours great but the formula contains skin nourishing ingredients that won’t make the skin look dry while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The ingredients are all non-toxic, cruelty free and fragrance free. Clean makeup doesn’t get much better.

As you see in the video, by placing the folded tissue, following the natural angle of your bottom eyelid, you are able to really pack on the colour without making a big mess to clear up in the outer corner. Once you have the colour to the intensity you like, remove the tissue and then adjust the outer shadow shape to whatever you like. Leave it as is for a very crisp look or go back in with your brush and blend out the edge for a more defused look. There is no fall out with these shadows so they’re super easy to work with.
Don’t be afraid to play around with different colour combinations to create an array of looks. Use anything from the paler colours for the day, the single shadow soft smokey brown look or mix and match any of the shades. By playing with placement and shapes you can have a lot of fun with this palette and hone your smokey eye skills.
To elevate the intensity of any smokey eye use a black eyeliner like the AU NATURALE Swipe-On Essential Eye Pencil in “Night” on the bottom waterline. Smudge through the bottom lashes and/or across the top lash line to add more smoke and depth.
If you’re wearing a softer smokey eye or want a very glam look, try pairing your eyeshadow look with a bold lip. In the video I’ve used MADAME GABRIELA “New York at 1pm”. With a soft black smokey eye this is a great look for daytime. This smokey eye would also pair nicely with MADAME GABRIELA “Paris at 7pm”, a gorgeous true red. If bold lips aren’t for you or you’re looking for something less intense to wear the shade “Sydney at 8am” by MADAME GABRIELA would suit any eye look because it’s the perfect soft nude.
