From nature to naturally fermented organic hair & body care:

Since the founding of the ENS Beauty Group in South Korea in 2002, Whamisa have been working intensively on the topics of fermentation technology, the production of cosmetics without added water, and natural preservation. Using organic raw materials and plant extracts found in nature as a base, and through the fermentation process to increase the absorption rate and preservation rate that helps to enhance skin moisture, Whamisa have developed a natural and organic range of fermented skincare.

Fermented Skincare

Fermented ingredients have a higher concentration of antioxidants and nutrients than non-fermented versions of the same ingredients, and so provide a higher absorption rate and abundance of nutrients. The fermentation process itself also produces additional skin-beneficial ingredients, such as amino acids and peptides. Additionally, fermentation helps break down the ingredients into more readily absorbed constituents, so the positive effects the ingredients have to offer are experienced more fully.

There’s also early but promising scientific evidence that some lactobacillus ferments help treat and prevent acne and rosacea. The mechanism by which this is achieved is still being explored, but the speculation is that this effect is due to a combination of the protective, “shielding” effect lactobacillus provides for skin cells, the antibacterial effect of bacteriocin produced by lactobacillus, and the anti-inflammatory effect of lactobacillus. Whamisa are pioneers in using the fermentation process to make ingredients more effective for superior absorption into inner layers of the skin.

Natural Ingredients

Whamisa believes in the power of natural ingredients therefore use only quality organic ingredients whenever possible. Many products are over 90% organic and have been created with sensitive skin in mind. Water has been replaced by nourishing floral waters and most products are vegan friendly. Whamisa aims for complete transparency with clean and safe ingredients verified by EWG, Organic Certified by BDIH and cruelty free.

Sustainable practices ensure packaging has the least possible environmental impact using only recycled PET product containers and carton boxes that are bio-degradable and recyclable, made of 100% sugar cane pulp and printed with low impact soy ink.
