Natural body scrubs often use salt as the active exfoliant. Natural Sea salt or Himalyayn salt make excellent salt body scrubs. These salts contain wonderful natural minerals that are great for your body, even helping to relax and soothe sore muscles. Salt body scrubs are anti-bacterial and detoxifying to help purify and clear the pores and the larger crystals are very effective on tougher callused areas like heels, elbows and knees.
The addition of essential oils, herbs and powdered botanicals in your natural body scrub will add not only a beautiful scent to your experience but also deliver nourishing healthy skin benefits.
Used once a week natural body scrubs are simple and quick to use especially considering the skin benefits, but note it’s important not to overuse as this can lead to dry and inflamed skin. Salt body scrubs should only be used on the body, avoid broken or sensitive skin and never use on your face, stick to finer and more gentle formulations.
After washing, apply to wet warm skin with light circular motions moving from the arms, to the torso, stomach and legs…. not forgetting the feet! Rinse well. Now is the time to shave – not before you scrub. When you are done and while skin is damp, lather the skin with your favourite all-natural body moisturiser, oil or balm.
