Skincare in Your 20’s

Start good habits now for great skin later

It’s never too early to start a skincare routine. The sooner you start looking after your skin, the longer you’ll be able to preserve that youthful visage of yours. Your skin in your twenties is smooth, plump and brimming with collagen and elastin, the building blocks of firm, resilient skin. But unfortunately, these degrade over time, which is why it’s so important to protect them now.

Your skincare routine doesn’t need to be fussy and 10-steps long. Layering too many products can cause breakouts, congestion, dryness and sensitivity. My advice is to keep it simple. In your twenties, your skincare should include four steps: cleanse, hydrate, protect, and exfoliate. If you follow these four steps now, I can guarantee that future you will thank you – and maybe even me.

Step one: Cleanse

Washing your face morning and night is essential in your twenties, and frankly, at any age. At night-time, do a double cleanse. The first wash removes makeup, product build-up, SPF, excess oil and daily grime that rests on your skin. The second cleanse purifies pores and prepares the skin to better absorb the products that come next. You can do this with the same cleanser or with two different formulations. If your skin is more on the dry side, a creamy cleanser like Madara Cleansing Milk won’t leave your complexion feeling tight or stripped. If your skin is oily, Dr Alkaitis Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser will give you a refreshing clean and help balance the oils. In the morning, only one cleanse is needed to revive your complexion and encourage skin renewal.

Step two: Hydrate

It’s important to note, water hydrates the skin and oils nourish it. Don’t get confused between the two, as all skin types, including oily, need more water. One of the best ingredients for hydration is Hyaluronic Acid. It holds 1000 times its weight in water and delivers intense moisture into the epidermis. More important than making skin look plumper, glowing and less lined, deep hydration keeps skin healthy and functioning at its best. Pick a formula like French Girl Clarifying Serum which pairs Hyaluronic Acid with antioxidants and other actives to help ward off free radical damage (free radicals degrade and age skin faster) and prevent breakouts.

Step three: Protect

Sunscreen is easily the most important step in your routine. Beyond the serious risk of skin cancer, UVA and UVB damage contributes to 80 percent of what we consider to be signs of skin ageing, think: wrinkles, sagging and pigmentation. SPF should be worn every day, no matter what. UV rays are always around, even on a cloudy day, when you’re inside working near a window or even just driving your car. There are so many formulations to choose from, but you should pick a broad-spectrum sunscreen that’s SPF 30 or higher. I like to look for the ingredient zinc oxide which creates a nice even finish and can cause fewer breakouts in 20-something skin. Little Urchin Natural Sunscreen SPF30+ is a great non-greasy, zinc-based option.

Step four: Exfoliate

Purifying your pores and buffing away the dead cells that rest on the skin’s surface and contribute to congestion is a great way to boost your natural glow and prevent future breakouts. Add an exfoliator into your routine once or twice a week to reset and recharge your skin. Bloomeffects Dutch Dirt Mask is a winning two-in-one detoxifying mask and exfoliator. It’s packed with fruit enzymes, these are brilliant natural exfoliators as they help to remove old skin cells to reveal softer, clearer, more radiant skin. 1. Mathew says:

Most people in my area are oblivious to the fact that fast hair growth amino scalp therapy shampoos (of course with no sulfates, no parabens and no DEA) even exist. Folks are now able to achieve longer hair and achieve more alternatives. Definitely worth investigating.

If you’re examining alopecia, hair damage, preventing hair disorders, fast hair growth, hair and scalp care at large, similar thoughts come to mind.

In general, you have to avoid hair treatments and products that include chemicals such as parabens, DEA or sulfates.

What’s beneficial for your hair is good for your skin all the same.

For obvious reasons your content here is so accurate for multiple reasons. It avoids the usual pitfalls and pitfalls most fall into: purchasing ineffective alternatives. Keep up the great content!
