Certifications & Labelling
We source only brands that are authentic and transparent in their processes. The definitions and resources below may also help you make informed decisions about your skincare choices.
Definitions
A generic term that applies to any ingredient formed in nature. Not all natural brands are organic and some ingredients which are derived from a natural source are highly processed.
At The NATIVES Co. when we say “natural” we mean as pure and as close to nature as possible. We only stocks brands that use the purest and most sustainable forms of natural ingredients and follow good manufacturing practices (GMP).
Products that are free from known toxins and some synthetic ingredients. These may contain “safe” synthetics particularly in the form of natural equivalent synthetic preservatives.
At The NATIVES Co. clean beauty not only means excluding a long list of synthetics (see Ingredients We Reject) but also avoiding safe synthetics where ever possible for the most pure and natural of products.
Organic ingredients are certified organic under one of the certifications here. So far though, it is not always achievable to attain organic certifications in countries where ingredients grow abundantly in their native habitat. In these cases we look to brands that source wildcrafted and under Fair Trade agreements, which ensure secure jobs and support local communities.
