Is it necessary to wash my face prior to using LED?
OMNILUX Men is best used on a clean face. Please remove all skincare and aftershave before use. Some ingredients in these products may cause light sensitization or may reduce the effect of the treatment.

Should I use it before or after applying post-shave products?
OMNILUX Men is best used on a clean face. Apply your post-shave products after your treatment.

Can I use the Men device with my current skin care products?
Omnilux Men is compatible with most skin care routines, however we do not recommend using your device in conjunction with Accutane or retinol products, as there is always a risk of reaction. While some individuals do use both products concurrently with no adverse reaction, transparency regarding potential effects is paramount to us. We strongly advise consulting with your dermatologist or provider, who can give you personalized guidance based on your skin's unique needs.

Will facial hair effect the penetration of LED light? Should the mask be worn before or after shaving?
The mask is best used after shaving or on unshaven light beards. Hair will deflect light, so skin with a heavier beard will not see as much improvement because the density of facial hair will prevent some light from penetrating into the skin.

Does this work on dry beards with dandruff?
Yes, dry skin will benefit from LED light therapy. Omnilux Men will work best on light beards. Hair will deflect light, so skin with a heavier beard will not see as much improvement because the density of facial hair will prevent some light from penetrating into the skin.

Is Omnilux Men helpful for razor burn from shaving?
Yes, the wavelengths in Omnilux Men can help calm the redness and irritation caused by shaving.

Can women use Omnilux Men?
Yes, women can use Omnilux Men. There is no harm for women to use the 1072nm wavelength.

Is Omnilux Men safe to use?
Over 40 clinical studies and nearly 20 years of experience have proven that Omnilux light therapy is safe for all skin types*, with no pain and no downtime. Omnilux Men generates no heat or UV light, so it is very safe to use.

The Omnilux Men device is intended for users 21+ years old.

Is the device safe for my eyes?
Yes, our Omnilux Men device is very safe for the eyes and does not require any eye protection. It has been tested and conforms to medical device standards including IEC/EN 62471 Photobiological eye safety standard.

Can I use any serum/creams or other skincare products underneath my device?
The best thing is to complete treatments with a bare face. You don't want to create a barrier between your skin and the light. Products could impact the amount of light reaching the skin and reduce effectiveness, or possibly cause a skin reaction or damage the device itself.

How does Men compare to the Omnilux Medical professional system?
The Omnilux Medical device has an output of 105mW/cm2, but because the Contour’s LEDs are directly on the skin, it delivers a higher concentration of light. It's similar to shining a flashlight on a wall — the closer you get to the wall, the brighter and more intense the light becomes. Therefore, the dose delivered during a Contour treatment is very similar to that delivered during a treatment with an Omnilux Medical professional device, and the results are also therefore very similar.

Can I use Contour while moving around or do I have to remain plugged into a wall outlet while using it?
The device is completely portable and battery powered so you can easily walk or move around while wearing it. You only need to plug it into an outlet to recharge the battery, which lasts for approximately 140 minutes, or 14 treatments.

Can I use it more frequently than the 2-3x per week or every day?
The Omnilux Men protocol is 3 – 5 treatments per week for 4 weeks, followed by maintenance as desired. However, you may use your mask every day if you like. There is no downside to using it more frequently. However, more frequent use may not produce faster or better results.

What does LED light therapy do?
LED light therapy utilizes specific wavelengths (colours) of light and energy levels (brightness) to stimulate the body’s own natural healing processes. LED light works at the cellular level, inducing a cascade of cellular reactions aimed at specific skin conditions and outcomes.

Does LED light therapy actually work?
Yes. Omnilux Men devices are FDA cleared and have been clinically proven to produce medical grade results. However not all LED masks are created equal. Some brands are less powerful and lack the clinical studies or FDA clearance that demonstrate proven effectiveness.

How long does it take LED light therapy to work?
Each person is a little different. Some will see improvement in a single treatment. Others will see improvement with additional treatments. In all cases we recommend 3 – 5 treatments per week for 4 weeks, and then routine maintenance as desired.

What is the best LED light therapy for me?
For skin rejuvenation red and infrared light has been clinically proven to produce the best results. For acne, red and blue light is best. Omnilux Men uses red and near-infrared light to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as the appearance of pigmentation and redness. It also improves overall skin tone and firmness.

What does red LED light do for skin?
Red light reduces inflammation and boosts blood oxygen levels in the skin. Red light therapy reduces the appearance of pigmentation and redness in the skin. It also improves overall skin tone and restores a youthful glow.

Will light therapy increase pigmentation or exacerbate melasma?
The red and near-infrared wavelengths used in our Contour devices have been shown to decrease pigmentation, not increase it. Although we are FDA-cleared for treating fine lines and wrinkles, studies and anecdotal data have shown benefit in reducing the overall appearance of sun damage and pigmentation. As melasma is a hormonal condition, it can be difficult to treat. While there have been some reports of melasma improvement using red and near-infrared light, Ommilux Men has not been specifically tested for this condition, but it should not make your melasma worse.

Will this help with psoriasis, rosacea or eczema?
There are studies showing that red and near-infrared light therapy may be effective in reducing redness & inflammation and improving overall skin tone due to rosacea, psoriasis and eczema flare ups. However, Omnilux Men has not been tested specifically for these skin conditions.

Is light therapy safe to use with Retinol or RetinA?
For users taking prescriptive levels of Retin A such as Tretinoin we do not recommend the use of light devices. Retin A should be discontinued for at least 5 days before performing light therapy treatments. Those using cosmetics/skincare products containing retinol should read the skincare instructions carefully for warnings and precautions in relation to exposure to light. Cosmetics/skincare products containing retinol may be used with Contour devices if there are no precautions in relation to exposure to light.
